Für die Ausstellungsreihe «related to limit» im super bien! Gewächshaus für zeitgenössische Kunst in Berlin wird eine performative Aktion in die Struktur des Gewächshauses geplant. Während zwei Tagen hält sich ein rotes Wesen – etwas zwischen Mensch und Tier scheinendes – im Innenraum des super bien! auf. Absurd, zwecklos, widerständig, seine Bewegungen tendieren zum Stillstand hin.

Wir wissen, dass ein Mensch – die Künstlerin selbst – in diesem hautdünnen roten Anzug steckt, ohne Augen, Mund und Nasenöffnungen. Der Körper im roten Anzug dient als Seismograph, als Messer der Intervention, «related to limit», denn die Körperkräfte werden die (Aus-)Dauer der Aktion bestimmen. Es ist kein autarkischer Rückzug auf sich selbst möglich.
Von aussen wirkt das ganze Setting einfach, lustig, durchaus burlesk. In einem weiteren Sinne erlaubt das Burleske eine fast normale Situation, die sich nach und nach mit und über Stunden zur Ver-rücktheit verschiebt.
Ist das ein idiotisch Tun? Wie lange hält es dieses Wesen aus? Wo sind die Grenzen der Bedingung, die man sich selber aufgetragen hat? Ist Durchhalten ein Erfolg?

Das ganze (Nicht-)Tun werden über eine an einem Baum angebrachte Kamera, wie man diese bei Tierbeobachtungen nutzt, gefilmt und eine andere Kamera streamt diese Interaktion ins Netz. Dadurch kann irgendwo auf der Welt dem roten Wesen beim (Nicht-)Tun zugesehen werden. Hat diese eine Funktion der Überwachung, der Forschung oder gar des Schutzes?

For the exhibition series “related to limit” in the super bien! Greenhouse for contemporary art in Berlin, a performative action is planned in the structure of the greenhouse. For two days, a red creature – something that seems to be somewhere between human and animal – stays in the interior of the super bien! on. Absurd, pointless, resistive, his movements tend to come to a standstill.

We know that a human being – the artist herself – is in this skin-thin red suit, without eyes, mouth or nostrils. The body in the red suit serves as a seismograph, as a knife of intervention, “related to limit”, because the physical strength will determine the (endurance) duration of the action. No self-sufficient retreat to oneself is possible.
From the outside, the whole setting looks simple, funny, and quite burlesque. In a broader sense, the burlesque allows for an almost normal situation that gradually shifts to madness over the hours.
Is that an idiotic act? How long can this creature endure? Where are the limits of the condition that one has imposed on oneself? Is perseverance a success?

All of the (non-)doing is filmed using a camera attached to a tree, such as is used when observing animals, and another camera streams this interaction into the internet. This means that the red creature can be seen doing (not) anywhere in the world. Does this have a surveillance, research or even protection function?
