APNEA

related to limit | 2-day intervention in Berlin | 2021

For two days, a red creature—part human, part animal, the artist herself—inhabits the interior of super bien!, an independent art space in Berlin-Mitte. Absurd, aimless, resistant, its movements verge on stillness.

All of the (non-)doing is filmed using a camera attached to a tree, such as is used when observing animals, and another camera streams this interaction into the internet. This means that the red creature can be seen doing (not) anywhere in the world. Does this have a surveillance, research or even protection function?

How long can this creature endure? Is endurance a form of success? What is the purpose of this recording—surveillance, research, or protection? This durational performance took place during the final weekend of Art Spring Berlin and drew significant.
