Auch ich in Berlin
Intervention with street signs in Berlin | 2020 - 2023
During the residency at Atelier Mondial – International Arts Exchange Program in Berlin, an intervention in the public space of Berlin was created. Ten original Berlin street signs were produced and installed, each bearing the inscription Auch ich in Berlin (Me too in Berlin).
Mounted high above the heads of residents, passersby, strollers, and tourists in Berlin, the signs blend seamlessly into the city’s existing visual language. Anyone who notices the familiar typeface of the Berlin street signs may feel unexpectedly addressed in their own being—yes, Auch ich in Berlin (Me too in Berlin)… There are many such me. This simple phrase may spark conversations, speculations, or even entire stories. The intervention is also connected to my own personal history with the city.
Just a few days after the installation, photos of the signs began to appear on social media. Questions, answers, and stories started to emerge.
And on Google Street View, one of the signs lingers—a quiet trace in a parallel world, like a memory suspended in digital space.
