Der Kunst-Turner

«Reactivate! Art in Public Space» ist ein Ausstellungsprojekt in der Stadt Zug mit innovativen Kunst- und Vermittlungsprojekten, die sich mit bestehenden Kunstwerken im Zug Stadtraum auseinander setzt bzw. diese neu interpretiert.

Das Projekt «Reactivate! Art in Public Space» fand vom 22. August bis 28. September 2013 im Zuger Stadtraum statt. Ein Teil der über 100 Kunstobjekte in der Stadt Zug wurde dabei künstlerisch “reaktiviert”, das heisst neu interpretiert. Eine Expertenjury hat aus 60 Eingaben des offenen Wettbewerbs elf Projekte ausgewählt, die sich experimentellen Situationen öffnen und sich auf aktuelle Diskurse in der Kunst, Kunsttheorie und Vermittlung stützen.

Ruth Baettig fordert mit ihrem Kunstprojekt «Der Kunst-Turner» die Bevölkerung und die Besuchenden auf, ausgewählte Skulpturen im Stadtraum durch ihre Vorstellungskraft zu komplettieren. Dazu engagiert sie einen professionellen Turner (Andreas Gribi), der durch die Stadt Zug rennt und sich auf einem Parcours an zwanzig Kunstobjekten in Bestform trainiert. Aus dem Bildmaterial realisiert die Künstlerin Postkarten, die an Kiosken in Zug angeboten werden. Zusätzlich entsteht eine Videoarbeit zur Performance des Turners, welche als Projektion in der Ankenwaage gezeigt wird. Mittels QR- Codes können die Videosequenzen bei den jeweiligen Skulpturen direkt auf das Smartphone geladen werden. (Text: Jacqueline Falk, Stadt Zug)

Ein Postkartenset erscheint Ende 2016

«Reactivate! Art in Public Space» is an exhibition project in the city of Zug with innovative art and mediation projects, which deal with existing works of art in the urban space of Zug or reinterpret them.

The project “Reactivate! Art in Public Space” took place from 22 August to 28 September 2013 in Zug’s urban space. Part of the more than 100 art objects in the city of Zug were artistically “reactivated”, i.e. reinterpreted. A jury of experts selected eleven projects from 60 entries in the open competition, which open themselves up to experimental situations and are based on current discourses in art, art theory and mediation.

With her art project “Der Kunst-Turner”, Ruth Baettig invites the public and visitors to use their imagination to complete selected sculptures in urban space. For this purpose, she hires a professional gymnast (Andreas Gribi), who runs through the city of Zug and trains on a course of twenty art objects in top form. From the visual material the artist creates postcards which are offered at kiosks in Zug. In addition, a video work on the gymnast’s performance is created, which is shown as a projection in the Ankenwaage. By means of QR codes, the video sequences of the respective sculptures can be loaded directly onto a smartphone. (Text: Jacqueline Falk, City of Zug)
