Radierung (Goethe)

Intervention (floor drawing) at Studio Atelier Mondial, Wiesenstrasse 29

The floor of the studio at Atelier Mondial, Wiesenstrasse 29 in Berlin, bears a layered surface—scratches, stains, and traces left behind by previous scholarship holders. For years, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe has been a recurring figure in my work. By chance, I came across a “Radierer Goethe” in the souvenir section of a Berlin bookstore—an eraser shaped like Goethe’s head.
This encounter led to the work Radierung (Goethe) in the studio: a two-hour intervention using erasers to “erase” Goethe’s portrait into the studio floor, referencing the style of Tischbein and Andy Warhol. It was as if Goethe had always been embedded in the studio floor—waiting to be uncovered. The traces of this intervention will likely remain visible for a long time.
