Retreat
Performative Intervention | 2026
RETREAT was conceived as a performative intervention within, and in dialogue with, the exhibition HOMESICK ANDERSWO – Räume, Orte, Erinnerungen im Werk von Pravoslav Sovak at the Nidwaldner Museum.
A figure entirely clad in red enters a glass-fronted refrigerator. The figure shares the confined interior with seven Roman snails, while a head of lettuce remains out of reach outside. Through two siren loudspeakers, the only sound is the figure’s amplified breathing: loud, physical, yet also reminiscent of wind moving through the exhibition space. The performative intervention condenses withdrawal and exposure, protection and threat into an image of endurance.
Performative intervention, variable duration (minimum 30 minutes)
