Radierer Goethe

Video | 25'

During my work scholarship at the Atelier Mondial in Berlin, I accidentally came across an eraser in the souvenir department of a bookstore that depicted a portrait of Goethe. Back in the studio, I created the intervention “Etching (Goethe)”, in which the portrait was erased from the floor of the Berlin studio in the style of Tischbein and Andy Warhol, or, seen from another angle, Johann Wolfgang Goethe virtually erases himself from the floor.

A standalone video emerged from the performative intervention — the camera, suspended from the ceiling, captures the performance from above, tracing movements and gestures from a detached, almost otherworldly perspective.
