Zwitschern im Kopf

Video Object with Sound, Sheepskin Cap | 2010

A penetrating, almost unbearable birdsong emanates from the simple sheepskin cap, filling the space and giving the impression that the loud chirping is playing directly inside one’s own head – hence the title Zwitschern im Kopf (Chirping in the Head). Upon closer inspection, one can see through an opening in the fur cap a small video monitor displaying densely packed chicks sprayed with bright pink paint. Loud and wriggling, they fill the screen as if trapped in a vibrant chaos of color and sound. The footage was shot at a bustling market in Beirut.
